Railroad Crossing
Staples Tail
Staples Depot
First & Fourth Ave (on Highway 10). Staples MN. 56479
Railroad Crossing was chosen as the barn quilt pattern because 60 trains pass by the Staples Depot each day. The first train passed through Staples in 1871 and for many decades up to 400 men and 1 woman were railroad employees. The Staples Depot was built in 1910. It continues to serve as an Amtrak station and is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. This barn quilt was made by students in the Art II Design class at Staples Motley High School.
