This barn quilts honors the Staples Fire Department which was established in 1906. The department consists of 25 volunteer fire fighters who are committed to continuous training and educating the public on fire safety. The fire department responds to approximately 70 calls a year: structure fires, grass fires, false alarms, vehicle accidents and missing person
The area of service includes the City of Staples along with the townships of Staples, Thomastown, Fawn Lake, Bartlett, Bullard, Becker and Villard.
